Challenges For Audio Systems in Multi-Purpose Conference Rooms- Part 1: Set-up and Storage

The first challenge to jump out in my mind for audio systems in multipurpose conference rooms, and probably for a lot of others, is where to put all the equipment when it’s not being used. And if you’ve ever been in charge of setting up or breaking down equipment for these rooms, the first challenge that might jump out in your mind is, having enough time to set everything up. These challenges are usually dictated by the equipment being used and as such when preparing to buy your A/V equipment a little foresight to these questions will go a long way towards the solution.

For your microphones and speakers (the equipment that will be in the room) we will look at two different options. Option 1 will consist of wired microphones with table stands using parallel cabling to a mixer. From the mixer a stereo channel output will be sent to self powered speakers on tripods. Option 2 will consist of an all-in-one conference system (push-to-talk microphones) with detachable gooseneck microphones and built-in speakers wired in series to a main control unit.

Right away we look at the lengthy set up time for all the cabling in the first option. If this is a small group of five then the time differences are minimal, but when you get to twenty different microphones your time for connecting and dressing the cables has gone up dramatically for option 1 where as in option 2 the microphones just keep daisy chaining with one, maybe two, cable runs back to the control unit. The other difficulty with option 1 is tuning the room to eliminate any feedback while at the same time making sure everyone can hear each other. This takes time and may not be possible with a one man set up. Conversely, the all in one conference system has an automatic mix-minus built in so that without any additional setup time feedback will be eliminated and everyone will be able to hear each other because each participant will have a speaker right in front of them.

An alternative to options 1 and 2 is using a completely wireless conference system. Using the latest technology in conferencing, a wireless system offers the fastest setup time and the most optimal solution for portability. The latest wireless systems are equipped with the same features as a wired system which provides an excellent solution for audio systems in multi-purpose conference rooms.

There are also differences in storage between these options. Depending on your specific availability for storage of the A/V equipment the differences may be moot, but option 2 requires far less cabling and because the microphones and speakers are all built in, the mic stands and self-powered speakers are not needed either. With less equipment in option 2 the physical space required to store them is lessened as well.

Overall, option 2 provides a faster set up time with generally easier storage. The other benefit is that the system is highly portable. Whether you are changing rooms in the building or going off-site, using a daisy-chained conferencing system will give you the versatility and the efficiency to run your meetings when you want and how you want.

How to Wear Makeup and Still Look Natural (Part 2)

In part 1 we talked about how to apply our foundation and
blush to look natural. Now we’ll discuss lipstick and eye
make up

So here we go Makeup Tips Part 2 or…
“How to apply eye make without looking like you’ve gone 3
rounds with Joe Frazier”

In other words don’t overdo it. Subtle is the word here!

Eyeshadow – There’s a rainbow of colours now available,
unlike when I grew up, green and blue were almost all that
we could get (boring!) So have fun and experiment, but bear
a few tips in mind.

Keep bright colours for evening use only.

Don’t use frosted, glitter or metallic shadows if you’re

over about 25! You’ll accentuate any fine lines. There’s
also a theory that the small glitter particles can pass
through the fine eyelid membranes and lodge in the eye. (I
don’t know for sure if this is true, but it’s enough to
make your eyes water!)

Use dark colours to shrink and light colours for emphasis.

Blend blend blend blend! between colours. Use a brush or
fingers (gently does it)

Use a lighter colour on the inner edge of eyes to “open”
and darker colours on the outer edge for a dramatic look.

It’s best to use no more than 2 colours at a time (unless
you’re super clever) Make sure to use the same colour tone.
Hot colours are bronze, taupe and gold. Sheer colours will
look more natural.

Special tip – Don’t use an eye shadow that’s the same
colour as your eyes. Contrast will bring our your eye
colour better. For example if your eyes are blue use a
brown or taupe shade. Brown eyes look fabulous with most
colours – except brown.

Mascara – If you only do one thing then make it mascara! It
has the most impact of all make up.

Start at the root of the lashes and move up. Make sure you
include the tiny lashes at the inner corners.

Put an extra coat on the outer corners too. This will make
your eyes look “larger”.

Wipe brush with a tissue to remove any “blobs”.

Don’t use a lash comb afterwards, instead use a clean wand
(wash your old one and use that)

If adding a second coat, do it before the first one dries.

Mascara can “go off” quickly. Replace every 4 months to
avoid eye infections.

Don’t overdo it. Too much will stick your lashes together
and look unnatural.

To widen eyes, use an eyelash curler – before applying
mascara.

If your eyelashes are very sparse, try false lashes, these
can look great if applied properly!

Special tip – If you have small eyes, don’t use mascara
on your bottom lashes. This can make your eyes appear
smaller.

Eyebrows – Pluck only under your brows to create a good
shape. If your brows tend to meet in the middle then you
can pluck here too, but be careful. A beautician can wax
this area for you the first time so you can maintain it
yourself in future.

If you have sparse or light eyebrows use a pencil one shade
darker than your brows, but no darker than your hair
colour. Blondes are best using a light brown pencil.

If your brows already look good, try adding some shine with
a slick of Vaseline or sheer lip gloss.

Use a brush to blend pencil at all times.

Special tip – If your eyes are too close together, start
your brows more toward the middle of the eye. Try this with
a pencil first. Don’t pluck before you’re sure it suits you!

Lipstick – The best thing I can tell you about lipstick is
to use a lip brush. Yes it takes a little longer to apply,
but you’ll get an even application of colour and stay
within the lip line.

Make sure your lips aren’t dry or flaky, use Vaseline or
moisturizer before applying lipstick.

If your lips are too thin, draw a line just slightly
outside your normal lip line with a lip liner pencil
(careful!)

If you want your lips to be the focal point of your face,
use a strong colour and use less eye make-up.

For lasting colour that doesn’t come off on your coffee cup
(or his cheek!), blot lips and re apply. Blot again.

Use a gloss over your lippie for impact!

Practice makes perfect when applying make up. If you do it
often enough, you’ll be able to apply make-up in the dark,
without a mirror and with both hands tied behind your back
(Just joking but you know what I mean!)

RAJA YOGI RAJA YOGI B K JAGDISH CHANDER –“Though man has language as a potent means of expression, and he has the intellect also to argue his case and to convince others, yet man ultimately uses the ways of the animals who… do not have language and reason as their means to seek justice… So, the lesson I learn from history, is that man does not learn lesson from history.”

RAJAN -“In this vastness there is place for space and much more. In this eternity there is place for time and the chimes of its measure. In the depth of the deep there is space for the light to enter but not the door to escape. In the roaming mind, there is space for the quietude by tapas of fortitude. In the emerald blue silence there is space for awareful existence of the fullness of ananda. In awareness there is the melody of the music of the spheres pulsating with cosmic life — heard only in silence. In consciousness, you and I are nowhere or everywhere vibrant in the soft whisper of the fathomless silence. If only we listen.”

Helpful Tips How To Use A Amplifier Wire Kit

A detailed explanation on How to install an amp kit can be had from this article. These wiring kits of amplifier are much easier to work with as they are readily available as prepackaged ones eliminating the need to understand any complicated wiring. There is another major advantage with these kits. They are inexpensive as compared buying all the components individually and then wiring them.

In this article we will learn the steps to do this installation along with few tips and suggestions. Be careful in understanding all the steps outlined.

The things needed to do this job are wire stripper, soldering gun , drill which is optional, a wrench that is adjustable and a screw driver. Keep these things ready before starting the work . Let us look at the steps in detail.

The first step would be to ensure safety before proceeding with any wiring book. So the terminals of the battery are disconnected . While this detachment is being done positive terminal must be disconnected after the negative one. Next step is drilling for which we use drill. The size of the drilled hole must be such that it is possible to accommodate both the power supplying wire and the covering wire for protection from excessive heat.

The next step would be to use screw drivers to loosen the tight fitting of the panels on the doors of the car. This should be done in two sides of the car where there are door frames. The power wire has two ends. One end is connected with the hole and the other to the holder of the fuse. The power wire is run continuously until paneling is found and reached. It can even be made to pass under the carpets. After trunk of the car is reached the power wire is connected with the positive terminal of amps. While doing this ensure the connection is tight and firm. Make it tighter using screw driver when connection is made after stripping of end of the power wire

In the next step grounding of wire is done. A bolt is located and then tightened to secure the connection tight with the ring . This ring is covered with the ground wire. Electrical tapes are used for remote wire connections. These remote wires are finally connected to the receiver’s output. The speaker wires are then made to connect with the positive and negative terminals of the amplifiers and speakers.

Take out the fuse which is present in the fuse holder. Power wire connection with the positive terminal is made correctly . To do this we need to remove and then again attach the terminal nut. The terminals are connected with the corresponding posts that is positive terminals with positive posts and negative terminals with negative ones. In the final step the fuse is put back into the holder Now let us look tips and warnings . If there are present in the fire wall there will be no necessity for drilling . Before installing an amp kit we need to check out the power needs and if amp kit can meet those power needs or not. Inserting the fuse back into the holder should be done only when all steps are completed that is only when all the wiring connections and attachments are made perfectly. Now the installed amp kit is ready to operate.

Thus we have learnt How to install an amp kit from this detailed article.

Guitar Wiring Diagrams, Stock and Custom

We have put together a long list of all the parts and wiring diagrams you need to change the wiring or simply renew old wiring into convenient to use packs. Each kit includes it’s own wiring diagram and parts list to tell you just how to do it.

Special Notes:

Rewiring an old guitar using the stock wiring diagram can be very frustrating. Wiring diagrams, whether stock or for a custom upgrade are mostly hard to find, and in many cases hard to comprehend, thus making them unlikely to work well. Refrain from just buying any old kit primarily to prevent damaging other components of your guitar. Some guitars have active circuitry, and a bad wire setup can damage it.

Every diagram and part we list is fully tested many times to insure you get the vibe you want. Simply put, if we recommend it, it will work as suggested and not damage your instrument. Not only that, every component is designed to give outstanding life and the best tone quality that you have ever experienced.

The guitar wiring kit shown here is a 5-way lever action switch for all 3 pickup Fender Stratocaster’s, and other 3 pickup guitars. The kit has very detailed directions that are very well explained in terms most people will understand.

Realistically speaking, many people have their own personal wiring setups and parts they may use or interchange that GuitarPlayersCenter only feels comfy dealing in proven setups. In fact one of my personal fav’s is a setup that includes an EMG-SPC control knob being installed in a Stratocaster. What a great switch, at least in my opinion. I like to toss in a set of Fender Custom Texas Special pickups while I’m under the pickguard. Texas Special pickups will give you the Stevie Ray Vaughan sound. Very delectable!

Most guitar stores are competitive in price and service. Most of them have great return policies in case you don’t care for your new tone. However GPC uses Guitar Center or Musicians Friend for those reasons and more.

Don’t make a mistake, if you are not inclined to doing these upgrades, then take it to a competent luthier/guitar maker. This is precision work to an extent, and not messing up your guitar is a priority. Although, it is doable by most people if you relax, be patient and most important, follow the directions!

Remember to use a solder gun with a replaceable tip,use a top line electrical solder and flux and don’t get the switches too hot. Remember that soldering is an art of sorts, so practice first on some extra wires to get your vibe back if it has been a while since you last soldered.

Good luck and Enjoy.

Moving Supply Equipment – How Dollies Can Help You

It would make things a lot easier to load if you purchased or hired specific equipment for the job. Most companies that help with the resettling process will be happy to provide all equipment concerned. On the other hand, if you are working on your own you will find a lot of information to help you in this article.

A dolly is a vital piece of equipment to help you to load a truck. They are made with heavy metals, plastic or wood with wheels to help you move large boxes and heavy crates from one lace to the other – for instance from your home to the truck. Dollys can help you load a truck quickly and efficiently. Most have a handle like a wheel barrow. Some dollys even have a strap to fasten very large items like refregirators and washing machines. Dolys make it possible for just two people to load a truck, which would otherwise require three or four workers. So it is well worth your while to invest in one or to hire one if you ae not working with a resettling agency.

Have you ever wondered how people move pianos? Well you need a trolley with wheels to move something as large as a piano. Such trolleys usually have three legs with adjustable wjheels, and the piano legs can be fastened on to the trolley to make it secure when you move it. This simple device can save you a lot of time and energy

It is near impoissible to move a piano without a trolley. Not only do painos weigh a huge amount, but you run the risk of damaging an expensive accessory if you try and do it manually.

Pianos are usually made in rectangular shape, out of fine wood. Even the smallest of pianos will require a trolley, and for larger models it is an absolute necessity.

When you need to take a trolley or a dolly down sets of steps, you will need to use an inclined rmp to do so. Take a professionals help if this is the case – it is not easy managing a dolly down two flights of steps.

When you are moving from one house to another, the dolly and the trolley are two vital piecse of equipment. Do invest the money in these two items, if not even more accessories. It is well worth sdpending a little on a trolley than to let your prixed possessions like piano and furniture get damaged.

55 Gallon Drum Dolly

When you need to be able to move a drum around from one place to another within the workplace, or need to be able to get a barrel out of the storage area without having to lift it onto a trolley every time you want to move it, then a 55 gallon drum dolly is generally the best possible solution to your needs. A drum dolly is a simple unit with 4 casters that the drum sits in, and allows it to be moved around.

There are a number of different designs of 55 gallon drum dollies available, and all of them work in exactly the same way. Simply acting as a moveable stand for the drum to rest on in order for it to be moved around, a dolly is one of the most utilitarian objects that you could possibly need, and thanks to the simplicity of the design, they are very reliable.

The main consideration that you need to make when selecting the right drum dolly for your needs is to choose one that is able to support the amount of weight that your drums contain. The most basic models available, plastic 55 gallon drum dollies can hold up to 600 pounds in weight, and feature a simple base and are available in a number of different colors which you can use for color coding to ensure that staff choose the right drum for their needs.

At the other end of the spectrum, an octagonal 55 gallon drum dollies with 8 wheels has a maximum capacity of 2,000 ponds in weight, meaning that it is capable of carrying a fully laden barrel without staff having to worry about the safety aspect of the dolly collapsing.

There are a number of different ways of moving 55 gallon drum dollies around the workplace, but for maximum safety, staff should avoid pushing them. The reason for this is that although it is highly unlikely that a drum could topple over in motion, placing a large mount of force at the very top of the drum may well cause it to fall, especially if it hits a hole in the ground or goes down a slope, which can happen without warning in many industrial environments. To counter the likelihood of this happening, most dollies and carts have a built in handle attached to the base, and this ensures that the majority of movement is below the center of gravity of the drum as it is moved around, and significantly reduces any toppling risk that there might be otherwise.

Whether you are using the drums as waste storage, and want to be able to make it easy to get around the facility in order to dispose of the contents properly, or have a stock of oil or other liquid within the drums and need to make it easy for staff to stock up with smaller quantities of liquid at their individual work stations, 55 gallon drum dollies make internal distribution a simple matter, and improve the overall efficiency of your processes at a relatively low investment cost.

How Can Internet Broadband Keep Marine Fuel Costs Down?

With volatile marine fuel prices, changes in marine fuel legislation from one country to the next and concerns over availability how does a yacht owner keep in contact with his marine fuel broker or supplier when operating from offshore?

On smaller motor yachts where range is limited to coastal cruising, surfing the internet for marine fuel prices and availability followed by a call before departure is the most efficient use of resources.

When accessing a line ashore Broadband speeds range from 2Mb, 8Mb up to 24Mb. Data limitations from unlimited, 40Gb to 1GB. Some marinas are recognising the need for a Broadband connection and offer a plug-in point providing quick and easy access which can be utilised to get fuel market data and to email brokers, when alongside.

‘Marina’ Wi-Fi’ Broadband in the event there’s no nearby local Wi-Fi signal (hotspot) from a national provider; some marinas provide a wireless internet access service. One such company is Square Mile one of Europe’s largest marina and cover within 50 u.k. marinas with Wi-Fi access. MDL marinas in the U.K. provide their own Wi-Fi.

What happens when there’s no plug-in point at say an anchorage or the yacht is no longer in the marinas Wi-Fi hotspot coverage? Where there’s mobile phone coverage offering Mobile Broadband, this is a cost effective means of getting varying online coverage..

Mobile Broadband offers mobile internet access on the go. By plugging in a mobile broadband dongle to a laptop or computer onboard connection speeds of 7.2Mb to 1.8Mb and download data size ranging from Unlimited, 15Gb, to 1Gb. Limits of 1Gb and 3Gb are ideal for checking emails and doing light browsing, not enough for large files. Speeds depend on the signal of the mobile operator with whom you have an agreement, so first ask fellow yacht owners what signal strengths they obtain locally before purchasing.

Online one can search for available hotspots some of which are provided free of charge, Jiwire.com has over thousands of hot spots registered; just enter the post code of your marina to find out availability, another the Cloud, the cloud.net and broadbandexpert.com provides good package comparisons.

For those wanting complete coverage; to make phone calls or emails to purchase marine fuel or need to keep live contact with your office and transfer files Inmarsat have delivered a new Broadband system for mariners. The Satellite Broadband ‘Fleet’ range ‘77’, ‘55’ and ‘33’ system by Inmarsat provides Voice, fax, and data communications for both ocean-going and coastal vessels, delivered via a range of antenna sizes to suit different types of.

Consider carefully your long-term requirements from broadband internet before purchasing and the benefits. If you’re checking real time weather reports, downloading updated charts, or allowing your kids to game online then look for a provider that can handle heavy broadband demand in the harbour of your choice. Mobile broadband on coastal passages is one of the less expensive means to keep in touch when there is a signal available.

When making large marine fuel purchases timely communications from offshore can reduce fuel costs and also offset the investment in Broadband on board.

Fuel Economy Testing: “Real World” VS. “DYNO”

For the past 30 years or so a variety of methods have been utilized to evaluate new fuel saving devices for fleets in an attempt to simulate “real world” testing. These tests were born out of a disregard for automaker fuel economy data that often does not accurately reflect the actual experience of fleet owners. Generally, “real world” testing does not attempt to control driving habits or driving conditions. Instead they use a variety of vehicles with differing missions.

“REAL WORLD” VS. REAL DATA

These “real world” tests range from a simple seat-of-the-pants, 1-week driving test that compares the results to historical data, to elaborate, A/B tests utilizing global positioning systems (GPS) and computers tapped into the onboard diagnostics (OBDII) sensors. In these tests the selected vehicles are first run for 3 months to base line the data (A) and then they are converted to the new fuel efficiency device and run for another 3 months (B). After about 6 months of testing the A/B data is compared often with no real conclusions. Why? Because something happened during the testing to throw all the results into doubt, sort of like “the dog ate my homework!”

So, what typically goes wrong? A lot. Some of the selected vehicles get replaced during the test, others are pulled out for maintenance and some repurposed to another task. Perhaps the most insidious data faults result from seasonal changes. The A test may be done in the spring and 3 months later the B test is done in the summer. It would not be surprising to find the B test vehicles idling more due to a running air conditioner. Some fleet managers could explain this away as “real world” testing, but unless the data is normalized for this anomaly, the test is irrelevant.

UNCONTROLLED VARIABLES

The problem with the “real world” approach to testing is that it lacks control over 4 key variables. Consider the first variable, actual testing conditions. These could include weather, topography of the locale, and even the condition of the road surface. Most people don’t realize that oil companies change gasoline formulation every two months to compensate for seasonal temperature fluctuations. This combined with temperature-related air density changes can significantly alter fuel economy results.

The second variable is the measurement of fuel consumption. In almost every “real world” test, the trip computer on the dashboard is the fuel measurement device. Of course this method is useless in the short-term because it varies widely until enough miles have been accumulated to average out the instantaneous swings. It can be relatively accurate over a 2 or 3-month period. But, measuring fuel consumption over such a long period of time brings in the first uncontrolled variable: weather.

Third, is the largest fuel economy variable of all: the driver. Unless you are a professional driver driving a fixed course to a tightly controlled time/waypoint standard, it is impossible to accurately duplicate driving in the A/B test. Many fleet vehicles have multiple drivers which further confounds any semblance of reproducibility.

The final variable is the actual data collection process itself. This usually leads to a report published to the “powers that be” who will decide the fate of the new fuel economy device. Unless the data can be normalized for conditions, measurement tolerances, and driver habits that differ between test A and test B, they are usually not very relevant, but nonetheless often used as fact for “real world” testing.

NEW TEST PROCEDURES

So, if “real world” testing is not very reliable, what is? Here is where we come face to face with the reason most fleet managers prefer “real world” testing in the first place. The tests used by the automakers and the EPA up until 2006 were based on a 1975 test protocol called the Federal Test Protocol 75 or FTP75. The FTP75 attempted to simulate driving as it was done in 1975 in a town in California. This route was fed into a computer and then driven on a dynamometer (more on this later). Those who remember the first oil embargo know that speed limits across the U.S. at that time were 55 MPH. So, too, the FTP75 is limited to a top speed of 55 MPH. Today some highway speed limits are 80 MPH. The FTP75 did not even use the same type gasoline available to consumers, but rather a highly refined version of gasoline called indolene. No wonder “real world” experiences did not reflect the MPG sticker on the car and why fleet managers came to disregard them.

In 2006 the U.S. Congress finally acknowledged this disparity and ordered the automakers to use another, more relevant test protocol called the EPA US06, which better simulated driving today with greater data collection accuracy. The problem with the EPA testing is that vehicles have to be transported to one of the few independent, certified facilities around the country. Furthermore, the cost to test could cost between $10,000 and $30,000 per vehicle. Put 10 vehicles in the test and you may well spend any potential fuel savings from a new device in testing alone.

NEW AND PRACTICAL TEST PROCEDURES

Albuquerque-based Enerpulse, Inc. studied the conflict between “real world” and scientific testing when introducing the Pulstar™ pulse plugs to fleet managers. A pulse plug looks and fits exactly like a spark plug and incorporates an electrical device called a capacitor, which boosts the energy of the spark like a camera flash boosts light. It’s sort of like putting a flashcube in your engine. The more robust spark makes ignition more precise and combustion more efficient, improving engine performance and fuel efficiency by an average of 6%.

In 2008 Pulstar™ was introduced to a U.S based “green” fleet with a healthy mix of E85 and hybrid vehicles. By this time Enerpulse, Inc. had developed a cost-effective alternative to EPA testing. It is called the Enerpulse Performance Evaluation Procedure or E-PEP. E-PEP is comprised of 3 types of dynamometer tests: torque, acceleration and fuel economy. The fuel economy test utilizes the same drive cycle as the EPA US06 test and instead of costly gas analysis equipment, it uses relatively inexpensive, but very precise, digital flow meters. The result is a test that can be done in one day with reproducibility of +/- 2% and can be set up in or near the fleet operations. More importantly, the E-PEP controls the variables associated with “real world” testing and is therefore, far more accurate.

DYNAMOMETER DEFINED

To control the conditions, the test vehicle is lashed to a dynamometer (dyno). The dyno is a rolling roadbed tied to an electric motor. The motor, which is linked to a computer, senses the power and speed from the wheels. It is calibrated by inputting the weight of the vehicle so load can be applied to the wheels to simulate actual driving for that specific vehicle. In that the testing is done indoors, all weather, topography and road surface variables are eliminated.

Next, a digital flow meter is installed into the engine’s fuel line and linked to a computer. This device samples fuel flow twice every second during the test and is the data that will be collected and compared to determine the efficacy of the new fuel economy device.

The most important element of the E-PEP test is the drive cycle. In this case E-PEP utilizes the EPA US06 drive cycle. During the test, the driver is constantly watching the screen above. At the bottom of the screen is the 10-minute cycle he will actually drive on the dyno. It combines both city and highway driving ranging from 0 to 81 miles per hour. The driver’s main focus is on the green line inside of the two blue lines. The driver must remain within the blue lines or flunk the test. In our case, the test is first run 3 times with automaker recommended spark plugs and then another 3 times with Pulstar™ pulse plugs.

An enormous amount of data is generated, which is ultimately distilled into a comparison chart showing the Pulstar™ improvement over the recommended spark plug.

DYNO TESTING PROVES RELATIVITY

The argument that dyno testing does not simulate the “real world” misses the point completely. Dyno testing is designed to prove relativity. If a fuel economy device tested on a dyno in a sterile environment improves fuel economy by 5%, then even if the car is driven up the side of a rocky mountain in the “real world” it should get 5% better fuel economy than without the device. A dyno test on a Hummer and a Prius will show dramatically different fuel consumption results, but there are conditions in the “real world” under which the Prius will use more fuel than the Hummer (Hummer idling vs. the Prius racing). This does not make the Hummer more fuel-efficient. The dyno will prove the relative value, which must absolutely translate into the fleet average costs. But, unless test variables are controlled, no fuel-efficient device could survive the ambiguities of the “real world”.

Perhaps part of the dilemma with fleet testing in general can be explained by the motivations of fleet managers. Most are judged on the reliability of the fleet and not on fuel efficiency, which is thought to be out of their control. After all, how can a fleet manager control the driving habits of others? A new fuel efficiency device, no matter how effective in reducing fuel consumption, is a potential concern to the fleet manager because it could create more maintenance issues and fleet downtime.

Now that we have experienced $4.00 per gallon gasoline, and by most accounts will again, fleet operators are scrambling to find new ways to reduce fuel costs. Add to this a growing sensitivity to global warming and our dependence on foreign oil and you have a powerful reason to consider fuel efficiency alternatives. Separating truly effective fuel economy alternatives from the “snake oil” requires accurate and cost-effective dyno testing procedures that are relative and relevant to the number one cost of operating a fleet.
